The two and four-seater open vehicles were built on the long chassis with 3400 mm wheelbase. Three exhaust hoses exited downwards on the right side of the engine compartment.

The six-cylinder engine has a displacement of 6800 cm³ and a compression of 4.7 to 1 producing a power of 120 hp (88 kW) at 3000 rpm. The overhead camshaft of the engine is driven by a king shaft. By connecting the front-mounted Roots blower, the power can be increased to 180 hp (132 kW) in the short term. The model is thus designated as 26/120/180 hp. Two rising flow ring float carburettors supply the engine with petrol. Each cylinder is equipped with two spark plugs (double ignition), which are operated both with the vehicle battery and with a firing magnet.

The vehicles have an unsynchronized four-speed gearbox with an intermediate circuit, which transmits the engine power to the rear wheels. They reach a top speed of 170 km / h. The vehicles have press-steel frames made of U-shaped sections and starrachs at the back and front, which are suspended by semi-elliptical leaf springs. All four wheels have drum brakes, which are actuated by cable pulls.

The probably best-known cars of this model originated on the short chassis with 2950 mm wheelbase. SSK means Supersport Kurz. The Italian racing driver Carlo Felice Trossi produced a sketch of how he would imagine an aerodynamically meaningful car. An English bodybuilder built a vehicle according to this drawing. Since the vehicle was not painted as usual in white, but in black at the request of the Conte Trossi, it was called only "black prince". Today the vehicle is owned by the fashion designer Ralph Lauren.

Původní Benzova firma Benz & Cie. Rheinische Gasmotoren-Fabrik je nejstarší světový výrobce automobilů. Symbol značky je velmi známý – již od roku 1926 je to trojcípá hvězda představující „zemi, vodu a vzduch“, jejímž autorem je Gottlieb Daimler, obkroužená tradičním vavřínovým věncem Karla Benze.

Vozy Mercedes jsou pojmenovány po tehdy asi jedenáctileté Mercédès Jellinek – dceři prodejce vozů a rakouskouherského generálního konzula v Nice Emila Jellinka.
