The AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with adaptive adjustable damping provides three different suspension modes. The driver is able to choose between "Comfort," "Sport" and "Sport+" with the touch of a button or by selecting the mode that optimizes the damping characteristics for the current driving situation from highly comfortable for cruising, to sporty and firm for cornering at speed, for example. The suspension also delivers impressive racetrack performance thanks to its implementation of the double-wishbone concept, which has proven to be so successful in motorsports. This is shown above all in the excellent lateral dynamics and driving stability at high speeds. The damping system of the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension operates continuously. This improves handling safety and ride comfort. The damping tuning is controlled individually for each wheel and is dependent on the driving style, the road surface condition and the selected suspension setting.

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission is a dual-clutch transmission. It comprises two sub-transmissions, one of which transfers the tractive power to the wheels, while the other already preselects the next gear. This forms the basis for spontaneous gear changes and extremely short shift times. When kickdown mode is used the electronic controller skips individual gear ranges instead of changing down through each individual gear. This enables fast sprints.

When downshifting, the double-declutching function is much more than a highly emotional sound experience. It stabilizes the vehicle and minimizes unwanted load change reactions, for example when braking prior to bends. Another basic advantage is the fact that the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission is positioned on the rear axle for ideal weight distribution. This transaxle design optimizes traction. Power transmission occurs via a carbon fiber drive shaft, which rotates at engine speed and is extremely strong while weighing only 3.9 kilograms. The engine and transmission are thus connected in a way that makes them resistant to bending and at the same time torsionally rigid and, as such, they support each other. This sophisticated solution means the entire drivetrain is virtually free of play. For the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster, the developers have also adapted the transmission to the new power level by modifying the hardware and software. The first gear of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sport transmission has a higher ratio, while the seventh gear and the final drive have a lower ratio. This makes for even more agile acceleration and very fast responses to sudden accelerator movements.

With the AMG GT C Roadster, Mercedes-AMG is introducing an additional output level for the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo, thereby underscoringg the exclusive character of the new model. At 410 kW (557 hp), the peak output is 35 kW (47 hp) above that of the AMG GT S and 20 kW (28 hp) below the Mercedes-AMG GT R. The maximum torque of 680 Nm is available from 1900 to 5750 rpm. A sprint from zero to 100 km/h takes 3.7 seconds, and this dynamic acceleration only ends when the top speed of 316 km/h is reached.

The eight-cylinder engine thrills with its immediate response, linear, finely controllable power delivery and powerful acceleration in all rpm ranges. The AMG 4.0-liter V8 comes with well-proven twin turbocharging, with the two chargers located not outside on the cylinder banks, but rather between them in the V of the cylinders. The advantages of the "hot inner V" include a compact engine design, spontaneous response from the turbochargers and low exhaust emissions thanks to optimum air flow for the close-coupled catalytic converters.

The AMG GT C Roadster comes standard with an electronically controlled locking differential at the rear axle, which is integrated into the compact transmission housing. Its sensitive and rapid control pushes the physical handling limits to a new level. It not only further improves the grip of the driven wheels, but also increases the cornering speeds at the limits.

The AMG rear-axle steering provides support in any situation and in any speed range. The rear wheels steer in the opposite direction up to a speed of 100 km/h, which the driver experiences as a virtual shortening of the wheelbase, providing first-class agility when spontaneously changing direction. When parking, the driver likewise benefits from a small turning circle with noticeably reduced steering effort. Above 100 km/h, the rear wheels steer in the same direction as the front wheels. This makes the vehicle even easier to control since, in this case, the sensation is that of an extended wheelbase. This increases driving stability even further at the limits of dynamic driving. The faster buildup of lateral force compared with a non-steered rear axle specifically translates into improved lap times on the race track for driving professionals.
